From on-site to remote working: 3 important learnings
My learnings from working both on-site and remotely.
Intro
Working remotely provides its own set of challenges. When transitioning from on-site to remote, you find yourself in a situation, where you need to keep yourself accountable and not rely on others to do that.
I am working remotely now for the past 4-5 years and I am still to this day trying to get better at it. I believe that is going to be a never-ending process. Let’s take a look at some challenges I needed to overcome when I first started working remotely.
Challenges when I first started working remotely
The biggest challenges for me, when I started working remotely, were:
I was always used to having people around me with whom I could brainstorm ideas, ask for feedback, or just have a coffee with anytime.
Since you can’t do that remotely, I’ve learned to become a lot more autonomous and learned the importance of planning ahead of time.
Focusing on tasks was easier on site, because there weren’t a lot of distractions, like you have in your own home for example.
